Benchmark 1: School Design

The T-STEM academy, located at Somerset Academy Brooks, is a STEM-focused program that serves students in grades 6-12 or 9-12. By targeting lower grade levels, the program aims to provide students with a strong foundation in STEM subjects early on, setting them up for success as they progress through high school and beyond.

The T-STEM academy is led by a dedicated team of education professionals, including:

• Principal Bonnie Salas, who brings a wealth of experience in STEM education to the program
• Assistant Principals Nora Leza and Latasha Washington, who provide support and guidance to students and teachers
• Administrator Ghada Homoud, who oversees the daily operations of the program
• Counselor Jenny Moore, who provides students with academic, personal, and college and career counseling.
• CCR Clerk Amy Acuna, who supports the program with record keeping and coordination
• PAC Liaison Louis Martinez, who works with parents and community organizations to provide support and resources for the program.
